Leena Chandavarkar on Kishore Kumar’s behaviour and marriage insecurities; psychologist weighs in

Legendary singer and actor Kishore Kumar was renowned for his music and performances, yet he also exhibited eccentric behavior. His fourth wife, actress Leena Chandavarkar, recounted some peculiar traits of his personality in an interview. She described how his moods fluctuated drastically, shifting from seriousness to childishness in a matter of moments.

Leena also recalled a particularly unsettling incident during the filming of Pyaar Ajnabi Hai. Kishore asked her if she had heard any rumors about him, to which she truthfully responded that she hadn't. Later, when she refused to confirm or deny such rumors, Kishore made a frightening face, as if transformed into an animal. The experience left her scared and compelled her to seek her hairdresser, ultimately leading her to agree that she had indeed heard rumors about him.

Despite such moments, Leena noted that Kishore Kumar had changed significantly post-marriage. However, her insecurities about the stability of the relationship, stemming from being his fourth wife, prompted her to consider leaving once. Kishore's friends intervened, and Leena was stopped from leaving. Neha Cadabam, a senior psychologist, explained that unpredictable moods or behaviors in a partner could create emotional exhaustion for the other party, leading to feelings of anxiety and hypervigilance.

To cope, Cadabam suggested strengthening communication, establishing clear boundaries, and fostering personal well-being outside the relationship. Additionally, discussing patterns during calm periods, identifying triggers, and seeking professional counseling could help alleviate relationship insecurities.
