(LEAD) S. Korea to launch homegrown Nuri rocket on Oct. 7

SEOUL, Aug. 27 (Yonhap) -- South Korea's domestically developed Nuri rocket is set to launch on October 7, carrying 15 satellites into orbit, according to the Korea Aerospace Administration (KASA). The launch will occur at the Naro Space Center in Goheung, a southern coastal village approximately 473 kilometers from Seoul. The precise launch time will be determined on the day, but it is expected to be between 12:23 p.m. and 1:23 p.m. If necessary, the launch window extends from October 8 to October 14.

This will be the rocket's fifth launch, following previous attempts starting in October 2021, which initially failed to place a dummy satellite into orbit. Subsequent launches in June 2022, May 2023, and November 2025 successfully deployed satellites, including a performance verification satellite and a next-generation small satellite.

The upcoming mission will feature a nano satellite constellation of five spacecraft, alongside the other 15 satellites, which are currently undergoing functional checks at the center.
