Kompany provides squad update ahead of Bayern's Bundesliga opener against Stuttgart

Bayern Munich coach Vincent Kompany has provided an update on the team's squad ahead of their upcoming Bundesliga opener against Stuttgart. The 2026/27 season kicks off with Bayern hosting VfB Stuttgart at the Allianz Arena, with the match scheduled for Friday night at 20:30 CEST. This update came during a press conference on Thursday.

Kompany confirmed that the Germany international Jamal Musiala will not feature in the upcoming match due to his ongoing recovery from absence seizures linked to a neurological dysfunction. He stated that Musiala will take part in team training today but is not expected to be in the squad for the match against Stuttgart. Kompany stated that Musiala's return to the squad is highly likely, with the decision to be made in consultation with medical experts.

Furthermore, Kompany revealed that 18-year-old Lennart Karl will be returning to the squad after recovering from an injury sustained just before Germany's World Cup campaign. Additionally, new signing Ismael Saibari is making progress towards full fitness following his injury rehabilitation. Kompany hinted that Saibari could be ready to start in the upcoming matches and suggested that Nathaniel Brown, another new signing, could replace Saibari in the central attacking midfield role.

Kompany also discussed the possibility of Nathaniel Brown playing as a full-back, a position he has previously occupied in the youth teams. He emphasized the strength of the squad and the benefits of having players who can adapt to multiple positions.
