John Boadu files nomination for NPP National Chairman race

John Boadu, the former General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has officially submitted his nomination to vie for the party’s National Chairman position. His nomination was lodged at the party’s national headquarters in Accra on Thursday, August 27, ahead of the scheduled National Executive elections on October 3. In his support for Mr Boadu's candidature, several high-ranking figures were present, including the Member of Parliament for Fanteakwa, the Trobu MP, the NPP Volta Regional Chairman, and several former MPs.

According to a recent Global InfoAnalytics survey released on August 20, Mr Boadu is currently leading the race for the National Chairman position. The survey showed him with a lead over former Energy Minister Boakye Agyarko and former NPP National Chairman Paul Afoko, with 27%, 15%, and 10% respectively. However, it's noteworthy that 47% of respondents did not express a preference, which could potentially sway the final outcome.

Mr Boadu's favorability rating stands at 61%, compared to 50% for Mr Agyarko, and 50% for Mr Afoko, giving Mr Boadu a net favorability rating of 49%.

Furthermore, regional figures indicate that Mr Boadu is leading in several regions, notably among the three candidates in the survey. In the Bono East, Greater Accra, North East, Northern, Upper East, and Central Regions, Mr Boadu's lead is substantial. While the survey indicates an early advantage for Mr Boadu, the high number of undecided voters suggests that the race is still open. As candidates ramp up their campaigns ahead of the October 3 elections, the outcome remains uncertain.
