Home of Florida couple killed in Kenya helicopter crash ransacked of $500K

In August 2023, a tragic helicopter crash in Samburu, Kenya claimed the lives of seven individuals, including Henry Parra, 55, and Adam Hlavaty, 42, both South Florida businessmen. The crash occurred on August 19, leaving behind a $500,000 loss of valuable items, including their cars, from their Coral Gables home. The Valencia Avenue residence of Parra and Hlavaty was burglarized sometime between Thursday and Saturday after the crash, as reported by Coral Gables police.

The couple, who married in 2017, was well-known for their love of family, travel and service. Hlavaty, a real estate executive, founded MRKT Group, while Parra co-founded Trax USA, an aviation maintenance software company. Their bodies were among seven others found dead in the helicopter crash. The house was reportedly broken into on August 22 when the couple's housekeeper checked on the premises.

Detectives later uncovered the stolen items, including artwork, jewelry, electronics, and business documents, as well as Parra and Hlavaty's 2023 Range Rover and 2020 Porsche Taycan. The suspects, Geybert Alexander Garcia, 40, and Melany Perdomo, 24, were arrested and charged with grand theft auto, grand theft over $100,000, and burglary.

Police also found evidence of fraudulent identification documents in the house. The helicopter crash occurred while flying from the Loisaba Conservancy to the Ewaso Nyiro area in Samburu County at 9:13 a.m. on August 19.
