Harry Zakour urges GFA to consider Laryea Kingston for Black Stars job

Former Hearts of Oak CEO Harry Zakour has urged the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to give Laryea Kingston a chance for the vacant Black Stars head coach position. The GFA is on the lookout for a new coach following Carlos Queiroz's departure after a disagreement over an extension. Queiroz, who succeeded Otto Addo before the 2026 FIFA World Cup, led Ghana to the knockout stage for the first time since 2010.

Assistant coach Desmond Ofei might take over during the upcoming 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers. Zakour, however, thinks the GFA should look beyond Queiroz, describing him as too old for the role. He believes Kingston, who is currently in charge of Uganda's national teams and has gained recognition for his work, should be given a shot.

Zakour pointed out that they have seen Kingston's success in Uganda and thinks the GFA should at least consider giving him a look. Kingston is currently preparing Ghana for the 2027 AFCON qualifiers, with the Black Stars set to regroup in September for their campaign.
