Cabinet gives in-principle nod to Bandar Malaysia-Seri Kembangan elevated expressway

The Malaysian Cabinet has given preliminary approval for the development of the Bandar Malaysia-Seri Kembangan Elevated Expressway (BSE), according to Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi. The decision highlights the Madani government's dedication to delivering impactful infrastructure that benefits the public, drives economic growth, and enhances the nation's competitiveness, as reported by Bernama.

BSE, a strategic infrastructure project, aims to bolster the transport network and connectivity in Greater Kuala Lumpur by serving as a high-capacity link connecting major expressways such as the Kuala Lumpur-Seremban Expressway, Maju Expressway, Besraya Expressway, New Pantai Expressway, Shah Alam Expressway, and the Kuala Lumpur Traffic Dispersal System network.

The elevated expressway could provide an alternative route for road users, improve public mobility, enhance logistics efficiency, facilitate the movement of goods, and potentially reduce travel times and access to employment centers, educational institutions, and public services. Following the approval, the Works Ministry and its partners, including the Public Private Partnership Unit (UKAS), will conduct negotiations and detailed assessments to finalize the project's implementation structure, ensuring fiscal sustainability and public interest.

The BSE development will be financed through private-sector means, avoiding direct government financial commitments. The government will also explore other infrastructure solutions to complement the road network and alleviate traffic congestion in the Klang Valley, with decisions based on strategic needs, capacity improvements, and their impact on traffic flow.
