Bruno Fernandes seals PFA Players’ Player of the Year, joining list of Man United greats

Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes has been named the PFA Players' Player of the Year for the 2025/26 campaign, becoming the latest in a list of United greats to claim this prestigious accolade. Fernandes was recognized for his outstanding season in the Premier League, breaking the record for the most assists in a single season with 21, surpassing the previous mark of 20 set by Thierry Henry (2002/03) and Kevin De Bruyne (2019/20).

The 31-year-old Portugal international's impressive play earned him several other honors, including being named the FWA Footballer of the Year and Premier League Player of the Season, as well as Manchester United's Player of the Season for the fifth time in his career. This makes Fernandes the 10th player in Manchester United's history to win the PFA Player of the Year award, the highest individual honor in English football.

He is also the first United player to earn this recognition from the league's professional players in 16 years, following Wayne Rooney's victory in the 2009/10 season.

Two Manchester United players have previously won the PFA Players' Player of the Year award twice: Mark Hughes (1989 and 1991) and Cristiano Ronaldo (2007 and 2008).
