A former Tabung Haji president and former treasurer of the Perbendaharaan made a seven-day appearance at the Malaysian Federal Court to aid an investigation by the Malaysia Anti-Corruption Commission (SPRM) into the findings of a survey conducted by the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) on the management and operations of Tabung Haji.

The court injunction, issued by Judge Ezrene Zakariah, was granted until September 2, following a request from the SPRM. The two gentlemen, both in their sixties, dressed in green and armed with SPRM badges, arrived at the court around 9:30 AM, accompanied by SPRM officials. Earlier, SPRM Commissioner-General Abd Halim Aman said the case was being investigated under Section 23 of the SPRM Act due to the use of influence to obtain benefits.

Previously, the SPRM obtained a seven-day remand order for the former TH executive officer to assist with the investigation. The court allowed the 60-year-old man to be remanded until September 2. Previously, the SPRM had detained seven individuals to assist with the RCI investigation, including four former TH management officials.

The RCI was established to investigate the management, operations, and assets of the institution from 2014 to 2020. Among the main findings were the alleged concealment of the true financial status of TH, including losses from poorly invested assets and the use of "creative accounting" methods to allow annual profit distributions.

The commission also found that TH's financial problems stemmed from political interference in the appointment of board members, unmeritorious payments of allowances, and the National Audit Department's failure to accurately reflect audit findings due to concerns about the integrity of the auditors.
