Anwar: Give university students full freedom to voice views, foster critical thinking

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 27 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim emphasized the importance of granting university students unrestricted freedom to express their views, stating that this would revitalize universities as hubs for critical thinking and diverse perspectives in tackling current education challenges. According to Anwar, university administrations and the relevant ministry must acknowledge that students should enjoy complete liberty in their activities without any impediments.

While the agreement or disagreement on this matter is subjective, he stressed that universities should be a space for lively debate and the opportunity to challenge students' arguments. At the Malaysia Madani Scholars Forum Series 13 held at Dewan Tunku Canselor, Universiti Malaya, Anwar reiterated that universities must serve as a platform for fostering critical and innovative thinking.
