ADB-UCC open new chapter of institutional collaboration

The Agricultural Development Bank (ADB) and the University of Cape Coast (UCC) have formally committed to bolstering their institutional ties following a formal meeting between their leaders. The meeting occurred when UCC's Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dennis Worlanyo Aheto, led a delegation to meet with ADB's Managing Director, Edward Ato Sarpong, and the Deputy Managing Director for Services, Prof. Ferdinand Ahiakpor.

The delegation from UCC comprised Gideon Enoch Abbeyquaye, the Registrar, and George Amfo-Antiri, the Director of Finance. This visit provided a crucial platform for the two organizations to strengthen their rapport and investigate potential mutually advantageous collaborations, especially in areas that could capitalize on the distinct advantages of both the academic and financial service realms.

During their reception, ADB's Managing Director, Edward Ato Sarpong, expressed gratitude to the UCC leadership for the visit and emphasized the significance of establishing robust institutional partnerships. He outlined how collaboration between the banking and academic sectors could facilitate knowledge exchange, human capital development, and innovative solutions that contribute to the nation's progress.

Mr. Ahiakpor echoed these sentiments, stressing the importance of deeper academic-industry partnerships to bridging the gap between academic knowledge and industry requirements.

Prof. Aheto, in turn, conveyed his appreciation to ADB for the warm reception and underscored UCC's eagerness to fortify its relationship with the Bank. He highlighted the potential benefits of their collaboration, such as knowledge sharing, capacity building, and other initiatives that could be mutually advantageous. The meeting also served as an opportunity for the leaders to exchange views on institutional development and the critical role that strategic partnerships play in fostering human capital development and supporting Ghana's economic growth.
