2027: Makinde appoints digital media aide

On Thursday, Anthony Ehilebo was appointed as Seyi Makinde's Special Adviser on Media and Digital Communication by the latter, who is both the presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement and the Governor of Oyo State. According to Makinde's Special Adviser on Media, Sulaimon Olarenwaju, the appointment goes into effect immediately, with additional announcements regarding the campaign team to follow.

Makinde stated that Ehilebo's skills as a communication strategist and lawyer would greatly aid in advancing the APM's message of reshaping Nigeria and securing a win in the 2027 presidential election. He encouraged Nigerians to remain steadfast and support the APM, emphasizing that the 2027 election presented a crucial chance to restore Nigeria from what Makinde characterized as the inadequate guidance of the All Progressives Congress.

"United, courageous, and determined, we shall reclaim Nigeria's destiny and grant our people the future they rightfully deserve," Makinde declared. The PUNCH confirms that Makinde formally entered the 2027 presidential race on May 14, 2026, as part of an alliance with the Peoples Democratic Party and the APM. In his declaration speech at a rally in Mapo Hall, Ibadan, Makinde announced his candidacy for the presidency of the Federal Republic of Nigeria under the PDP/APM alliance.
