2027: Makinde appoints digital media aide

On Thursday, Seyi Makinde, the presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement and Governor of Oyo State, announced the appointment of Anthony Ehilebo as his Special Adviser on Media and Digital Communication. This move, effective immediately, was confirmed by Makinde's Media Special Adviser, Sulaimon Olarenwaju, in Ibadan, the state capital.

Makinde praised Ehilebo's qualifications as a communication strategist and lawyer, stating that his expertise would be instrumental in advancing the APM's vision of transforming Nigeria and securing a win in the 2027 presidential election. The governor appealed to Nigerians to remain steadfast and support the APM, emphasizing the significance of the 2027 election as a crucial moment to rescue Nigeria from what Makinde described as the ineffective leadership of the All Progressives Congress.

"With unity, courage, and determination, we will reclaim Nigeria’s destiny and deliver the future our people deserve," Makinde declared. The PUNCH reported that Makinde officially entered the presidential race on May 14, 2026, under an alliance with the Peoples Democratic Party and the APM. During his declaration speech at a rally in Ibadan, Makinde pledged, "Today, I, Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde, FNSE, announce my candidacy for the position of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria under the PDP/APM alliance."
