Zelenskyy awards Elon Musk Ukraine’s Order of Freedom for Starlink role

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has bestowed Elon Musk with Ukraine's highest state honor, the Order of Freedom, recognizing Musk's significant contributions in protecting human life and fostering international relations. Musk, the visionary CEO of SpaceX, has played a pivotal role in Ukraine's war efforts by granting the nation access to Starlink, the satellite internet network developed by SpaceX.

This critical technology has proven to be a lifeline for both Ukrainian military personnel and civilians, enabling uninterrupted communication and coordination in the face of Russia's full-scale invasion in 2022. Musk's influence over Ukraine's military capabilities, through his decisions regarding Starlink usage, has sparked concerns among Ukrainian authorities.

As the war rages on, Zelenskyy has expressed hope that Musk will reconsider allowing Starlink operations within Russian territory, a move that would further strengthen Ukraine's ability to launch longer-range drone attacks on Russian military and economic infrastructure.
