Why I resigned from NFF fact-finding committee – Amun

Ex-Nigeria Football Federation General Secretary Fanny Amun resigned from the federation's fact-finding committee shortly after submitting its report. He did so to safeguard the committee's integrity and independence, ensuring the findings were not altered before their submission to the NFF. Amun completed the assignment ahead of a two-week deadline set by the NFF, stating he wanted to prevent any influence on the report.

The committee was formed in August 2026 following a series of underwhelming results from Nigeria's national teams, including the Super Falcons. The committee's mandate included investigating the causes of the teams' poor performances and making recommendations to address challenges in Nigerian football. Amun chaired the committee alongside former U-20 coach Ladan Bosso, former Super Falcons player Desire Oparanozie, former Super Eagles midfielder Mutiu Adepoju, and Alex Mana.

He resigned from the committee and the NFF Ethics Committee, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to serve but calling for amendments to the NFF's electoral statutes, including the requirement for all contestants, including sitting board members, to undergo Ethics Committee screening and financial crime agency checks. He also proposed limiting elected football administrators to a maximum of two terms and highlighted concerns about player, coach, and staff welfare, including disparities in allowances received during foreign trips.
