Royals beat Blue Jays 5-3 to extend win streak to nine games

The Kansas City Royals extended their winning streak to nine games by defeating the Toronto Blue Jays 5-3 on Tuesday night at Rogers Centre. Salvador Perez drove in the go-ahead run with a fifth-inning single off Toronto starter Max Scherzer. Kansas City added two unearned runs in the sixth inning after a Vladimir Guerrero Jr. throwing error, before Nathan Lukes extended the lead to three runs with a two-run single in the ninth inning.

Despite a strong effort from Seth Lugo, who worked five innings without allowing an earned run, the Blue Jays were unable to capitalize on scoring opportunities, putting runners in scoring position in four of the first five innings. Nathan Lopez provided the only run for Toronto, hitting a sacrifice fly in the opening frame. The Royals' pitching staff, led by Seth Lugo, was the key to their victory.
