What sanctions were imposed two seasons ago? – FC Samartex GM challenges Club Licensing

FC Samartex General Manager Edmund Ackah has raised doubts about claims made by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Club Licensing Committee regarding sanctions imposed on clubs for non-compliance with licensing requirements before the 2026/27 season. Dr Kwame Baah-Nuako, the committee's chairman, stated that Asante Kotoko was the sole club to meet all licensing requirements without sanctions.

However, Ackah refuted the claim, asserting that FC Samartex has not been officially notified of any sanctions from the licensing body. During an interview on Asempa FM’s Ultimate Sports Show, Ackah expressed surprise at the committee chairman’s statements, questioning the legitimacy of his assertions. He further emphasized that clubs should receive formal notification of any sanctions along with details explaining the reasons behind such decisions.

Ackah urged the committee chairman to present evidence of any licensing breaches by FC Samartex. He challenged the chairman to prove that the club failed to meet the necessary requirements, expressing frustration with the ongoing issue being addressed through radio broadcasts. The GFA Club Licensing Committee has approved 14 out of 18 proposed venues for the upcoming Ghana Premier League season, set to commence in September.

Samartex is currently preparing for the 2026 GHALCA Top Four tournament, which will take place from August 26 to 30 and serves as a preparatory event for the new campaign. The club's 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season will kick off with an away game against Karela United on September 6.
