US Secret Service probes Iranian video threatening Barron Trump

On Tuesday, the Secret Service placed three officials on administrative leave while an investigation by the agency's professional standards office takes place. The trio were not involved in law enforcement duties but were under scrutiny for potential misconduct, according to the public information office. The reason behind this decision is currently unknown as the Office of Professional Responsibility begins its review.

The Secret Service has recently come under intense scrutiny due to President Donald Trump being the subject of at least three assassination plots within the past two years. In April, a breaching incident at the Washington Hilton during the White House Correspondents' Association dinner, where Trump was present, came to light. This led to a series of other incidents that have put the Secret Service in the spotlight.

The Justice Department last month issued subpoenas to New York Times journalists who had reported on security concerns involving the newly gifted Air Force One by Qatar. These subpoenas, later withdrawn, were based on the report that Trump was advised to leave Turkey using the old Air Force One due to Secret Service concerns of assassination threats from Iran.

Trump himself confirmed this ruse in a statement, revealing that he had left the old plane while the Secret Service and military ensured he was on a "different aircraft."

Earlier this month, Trump admitted to slipping away from Air Force One upon departing Turkey because the Secret Service and military preferred he use a different plane due to assassination concerns. The Secret Service confirmed that one of its agents assigned to Vice President JD Vance’s security detail was also under investigation for suspected news leaks, specifically tied to a July MS NOW report detailing the agents' frustrations over last-minute travel requests from Vance and his family.
