US military says it killed four in strike on alleged drug-smuggling boat in the Caribbean

The U.S. military launched an airstrike on a boat in the Caribbean Sea on Tuesday, resulting in the deaths of four individuals, according to Pentagon reports. This marks the fourth such strike in the region within a month, bringing the total number of casualties from U.S. military strikes to at least 227 since the Trump administration began targeting what it calls "narcoterrorists" nearly a year ago.

The military claimed the boat was involved in alleged drug smuggling, but they did not provide evidence to support this assertion. A video posted on social media showed what appeared to be a moving boat followed by a flash. This strike occurred just two days after another U.S. military strike in the eastern Pacific Ocean, which killed two people accused of trafficking drugs.

The U.S. campaign against alleged smugglers resumed after a two-month pause. Earlier this month, the Trump administration announced agreements with Colombia, Guatemala, and Honduras to extend its offensive to land across multiple Latin American countries. However, Guatemala denied reaching such a deal. Ecuador has also participated in similar missions with the U.S. in March.
