UAE weather: Rain, strong winds and dust expected as temperatures soar to 49°C

Dubai, UAE: The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) predicts a shift in weather patterns for Wednesday, with the possibility of rain, strong winds, and blowing dust. Inland areas may experience temperatures soaring up to 49°C, while coastal regions and islands will see a range of 39°C to 45°C. Mountainous areas are expected to have slightly cooler temperatures, ranging from 33°C to 38°C.

The weather is forecasted to be fair to partly cloudy, with convective clouds developing in the afternoon and extending into some inland areas, leading to rainfall. Light to moderate winds are anticipated, but they could intensify to fresh to strong levels near clouds, causing dust and sand to be stirred up, which may reduce visibility.

Wind speeds could reach 55km/h in inland regions and 45km/h along the coast, islands, and mountains. Overnight, conditions are expected to become humid, transitioning into Thursday morning, with a potential for mist formation. The Arabian Gulf and the Oman Sea are forecasted to remain relatively calm. This unsettled weather pattern is expected to persist over the coming days, with a chance of rain-producing convective clouds over eastern and southern areas on Thursday, as well as further chances of afternoon rainfall in parts of the country from Friday through Sunday.
