SC closes plea on CBSE OSM glitches

The Supreme Court ruled on Tuesday against a petition challenging errors in the On Screen Marking (OSM) evaluation process used for Class XII results in the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). The court dismissed the case filed by lawyer Rakesh Binjola, stating that permitting revaluation at this stage would "open a Pandora's Box."

Chief Justice of India Surya Kant emphasized that directing the CBSE to open a window for relief would create further problems. The court noted that the admission process to colleges was already concluded, and reopening the window at this late stage would exacerbate the situation. The petitioner's lawyer pointed out that lakhs of students were unable to utilize the window due to various reasons, but the court stated, "These are hard cases.

But we cannot upset the entire system. It is your bad luck. What can we do?" The court also sought evidence of the system's failure and dismissed the petition, concluding that reopening the window was not feasible as the results of numerous admission tests had already been finalized.
