TV commentator Kim Joon-il recently suggested that the Jinju Democratic Party (JDP) might change its name, drawing parallel to the infamous "Inhap Party Reorganization Case" of the Park Chung-hee dictatorship. The "Inhap Party Reorganization Case" involved the falsely accused Democratic Youth Union (JDU) and resulted in the execution of eight members in 1975.

The victims' families strongly condemned Kim's remarks, calling them insensitive and mocking. In response, the JDP panel joked about renaming the party as the "Luminous Democratic Party," leading Kim to mention the possibility of a death sentence. The comparison to the "Inhap Party Reorganization Case" led to outrage from the victims' families.

The JDP's panelists deleted the offending segment and apologized, but Kim expressed regret for his insensitive comments and promised to meet with the victims' families to apologize in person.
