The "memorabilia" of the Atami landslide disaster are still kept in storage, with about 1,000 items preserved even now. In the past, some disaster-affected areas have disposed of such items. 静岡県熱海市で2021年7月に発生した土石流で、被害を受けた家などから出た「思い出の品」が、今も千点近く保管されていることが分かりました。 品物は、被災者の同意を得て、熱海市が段ボール箱などに入れて保管してきました。しかし、宮城県の東松島市や福島県の浪江町など、過去の被災地では、思い出の品を廃棄したケースがあるということです。 熱海市は「被災者の気持ちを考えながら、保存するかどうかの判断をしていきたい」と話しています。
