Second suspect arrested in Swedish school attack

Stemming from the recent school attack in Fagersta, Sweden, prosecutors have announced the arrest of a second suspect, identified as an 18-year-old student named Liam Nebel. He is currently in custody and is being charged with murder and attempted murder. The incident, which took place last Friday at the Brinell school, resulted in the death of a 17-year-old student and left three other students injured, two of whom remain in serious condition in the hospital.

According to the Prosecution Authority, the 18-year-old suspect is suspected of being an accomplice to murder and attempted murder on August 21. However, the statement provided no additional details. Initially, police believed there was only one perpetrator, but they are now investigating a motive behind the attack.

A TikTok account reportedly belonging to the attacker was under investigation by the police. The account has since been taken down, but AFP viewed it before its deletion. The TikTok contained several videos glorifying school attacks, with the last update featuring a photo of a sword on the floor of a Brinell school bathroom, matching the description provided by Sweden's main daily newspaper, Dagens Nyheter.

The attacker in the videos was seen wearing a helmet, dark clothes, and carrying a sword, similar to the description of the perpetrator in a similar racially motivated attack that occurred in Trollhattan in 2015.
