Sanwo-Olu advises managers on ethical leadership

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, has emphasized the need for Nigerian managers and professionals to cultivate ethical leadership, foster innovation, and develop institutions that can adapt to rapid economic and technological shifts. The call was made recently at the 65th Anniversary Dinner and Awards Night of the Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM) in Lagos.

Sanwo-Olu, accompanied by Deputy Governor Dr Kadri Hamzat, cautioned that professionals who fail to adapt may struggle in an increasingly competitive economy. The event, themed 'Leading Through Transformation: The Human Element in Modern Leadership', highlighted the impact of urbanization, technological disruption, economic transformation, and evolving work dynamics on leadership roles in the public and private sectors.

Sanwo-Olu stressed the importance of strategic thinking, technical skills, integrity, adaptability, and continuous learning for leaders. He highlighted the significance of NIM's role in nurturing management professionals to ensure Nigeria's ability to navigate the changing business and economic landscape. Sanwo-Olu also urged for a greater adoption of digital transformation and stronger professional standards as managers aim to compete globally.
