Police seize 1,390 litres of illicit brew in Kisii

Police in Kisii County have intensified efforts to combat illicit brews following a series of coordinated operations on Wednesday, August 26, 2026. These operations resulted in the seizure of a total of 1,390 litres of Kangara, a type of illicit brew.

The National Police Service reported that officers from Suneka Police Station, in collaboration with National Administration officers, conducted a major raid in Bomorenda location. During this operation, they managed to impound 1,080 litres of the illicit brew. This operation, combined with another one in Rigena Village, Sosera sub-location, accounted for the majority of the total seizures.

In addition to the large-scale operation in Bomorenda, officers from Ikorongo Police Station in Rigena Village confiscated another 310 litres of Kangara. These coordinated efforts have brought the cumulative quantity of illicit brews seized to 1,390 litres.

The National Police Service emphasized that they will continue to target locations believed to be involved in the distribution of illicit alcoholic drinks. They urged residents to assist in this effort by providing timely information on any suspicious activities related to illicit brews and substance abuse.
