NSCDC arrests two suspected cattle rustlers in Kano

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Kano State has apprehended two individuals suspected of cattle rustling. The suspects, identified as 45-year-old Jamilu Saadu and 37-year-old Nura Abdullahi, were apprehended on Tuesday at approximately 3am while allegedly transporting a stolen cow in a vehicle. The arrest occurred at a mining checkpoint along the Tudun Wada–Kiru Road, in Rahama Round, Kiru Local Government Area.

The NSCDC intercepted a Sharon Galaxy vehicle, registration number JJN 606 AE, during routine operations at the checkpoint. One cow was found concealed in the vehicle's rear section. Two other suspects, believed to be accomplices, fled the scene upon seeing the operatives and remain at large. The NSCDC is actively pursuing the escapees.

The arrested suspects are currently in custody, along with the recovered exhibits, which include the stolen cow and two machetes. A comprehensive investigation is underway to determine the details of the alleged cattle rustling and to establish the rightful owner of the animal. The NSCDC promises to charge the suspects to court following the investigation's completion.
