Afoko: I’ll Work With Bawumia … To Win 2028

Former National Chairman of the NPP, Paul Awentami Afoko, has pledged to collaborate with NPP presidential candidate Dr Mahamudu Bawumia to reunite and reorganise the party, positioning it for a return to power in 2028. At the party's headquarters in Accra, Mr Afoko launched his campaign with the theme "Reunite, Reorganise, Recapture."

He pledged to heal internal divisions, strengthen party structures, and restore confidence among members ahead of the 2028 general election. Mr Afoko's decision to seek the chairmanship again followed consultations with party leaders, executives, and members, revealing a desire for unity and better organisation within the NPP. If elected, he promised not to use the chairmanship to settle old scores or reward specific factions at the expense of others.

Instead, he pledged to empower constituencies, strengthen communications and electoral systems, and increase women's participation within the party. Mr Afoko also reiterated his support for Dr Bawumia, stating that as National Chairman, he would work with the presidential candidate to build a united NPP behind him. He urged delegates to evaluate candidates based on competence, integrity, and experience rather than geographical considerations.
