Nepal Floods: Yogi Adityanath Orders High Alert Along UP-Nepal Border Amid Rising River Levels

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has expressed alarm over the loss of 105 Indian citizens in Nepal's recent floods and ordered state officials to remain vigilant along the state's border with Nepal. During a video conference, Adityanath instructed district magistrates to closely monitor the situation and keep residents informed.

The chief minister prayed for the safety of the missing, asking Lord Pashupatinath for divine protection. Officials estimate that 400 tourists and travelers are missing, including 105 Indians, 291 foreigners, and 80 Nepali citizens. The danger lies in the potential for rising water levels in the Gandak and Narayani rivers, which could impact districts near the Uttar Pradesh-Nepal border.

Maharajganj and Kushinagar have been placed on high alert. The Kushinagar administration has stepped up its vigilance, and officials are urging residents to remain cautious without panicking. Sirens have been used to warn vulnerable residents in Maharajganj, and authorities are advising people living near the river to seek shelter on the roofs of sturdy houses if flooding worsens.

Within 24 hours, compensation for deaths, livestock losses, and property damage will be provided to affected families. Officials are also working to assess the scale of the damage and ensure that those affected receive the help they need.
