Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes crowned PFA player of the year

Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has been named the Professional Footballers' Association (PFA) player of the year for 2025/26. His outstanding performance includes setting a new Premier League record for assists, with 21 goals created, surpassing Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne. The 31-year-old also scored nine times during the season as United climbed back to third place in the Premier League.

Fernandes won the PFA award in May, and commented on the recognition, saying, "It is obviously a very proud moment. They are the ones you go on the pitch against and it's probably not easy to vote for someone you play against, so it is a very good moment." The women's award went to Khadija Shaw of Manchester City, who scored 21 goals in the Women's Super League and won the Golden Boot.

Manchester City's Nico O'Reilly was named men's young player of the year, while Erling Haaland, Rayan Cherki, and Antoine Semenyo were also recognized for their roles in the team.
