Man Utd’s Fernandes crowned PFA player of the year

Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes was named the Professional Footballers Association (PFA) player of the year for the 2025/26 season. The Portuguese international broke the all-time record for Premier League assists, setting up 21 goals during an outstanding individual year. Fernandes surpassed Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne's previous mark and scored nine times as United finished third in the Premier League under manager Michael Carrick, securing a return to the Champions League. Fernandes also won the Football Writers Association's footballer of the year award in May.

Jamaican international Khadija Shaw was awarded the PFA's women's player of the year for the second time, having scored 21 goals in City's successful campaign. Chelsea's Nico O'Reilly was named the men's young player of the year. City's young stars Erling Haaland, Rayan Cherki and Antoine Semenyo were included in the team of the year.

Arsenal's five representatives in the team included David Raya, Gabriel, William Saliba, Jurrien Timber and Declan Rice, while Manchester United's Fernandes and Brentford's Igor Thiago rounded out the XI.
