Lee to explore regional development strategy with mayors, governors

President Lee Jae Myung is scheduled to convene a meeting on Wednesday with central and regional government officials to discuss strategies for fostering economic growth through regional development. The conference, organized by the presidential office, will bring together high-ranking officials from the central government and newly elected mayors and governors from various regions.

The primary goal of the meeting is to strengthen collaboration between central and regional governments and to explore policies that can support regional growth, particularly in alignment with the government's megaprojects investment initiative. This initiative, announced late June, aims to partner with technology giants to drive significant investments in semiconductor production and AI-related facilities, with a particular emphasis on regional areas.

During the meeting, 16 mayors and governors from across the country will present their own growth strategies. The discussions will focus on how to effectively leverage regional resources and expertise to support the government's broader economic development goals.
