Infantino has no future at FIFA, European Leagues chief says

European Leagues President Claudius Schaefer has stated that Gianni Infantino, the current FIFA president, has no future at the governing body. In an interview with the Athletic, Schaefer expressed concerns about Infantino's leadership and the growing influence of the president over the years. He emphasized that major decisions are being made without meaningful consultation from stakeholders, which is a breach of legal responsibilities.

Schaefer highlighted the FIFA peace prize given to U.S. President Donald Trump and the overturning of a ban for American forward Folarin Balogun as examples of questionable decisions that call into question the integrity of the sport. With three confederations, including Europe's UEFA, Asia's AFC, and CONCACAF, calling for Infantino's resignation, Schaefer stressed that the most important task is to redefine the role of the FIFA president, rather than seeking a new leader. FIFA has yet to comment on Schaefer's remarks.
