Huge turnout as Adebutu, Iyabo Obasanjo begin 2027 campaign in Ogun

Former Ogun Central Senator, Iyabo Obasanjo, has shared her motivation for rejoining the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and vying for a Senate seat after a 15-year hiatus. The daughter of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Obasanjo revealed that her return to the PDP is aimed at revitalizing the senatorial district to its former state of prosperity and representation that she experienced during her previous term from 2007 to 2011.

Addressing a campaign flag-off in Abeokuta, Obasanjo emphasized that she is committed to reclaiming the district's lost glory and ensuring effective representation for her constituents. Originally affiliated with the All Progressives Congress (APC), she switched allegiance to PDP before resurfacing as a senatorial candidate. Obasanjo's decision to seek another term in the Senate is heavily influenced by the perceived decline in the district's fortunes and the need to address this challenge head-on.

The official launch of her campaign, attended by thousands of PDP members and supporters, saw Ladi Adebutu, the PDP gubernatorial candidate, expressing confidence in the party's return to power, promising to improve the living conditions of Nigerians. Adebutu's running mate, Lateefat Sowunmi-Kolapo, urged voters to remain vigilant throughout the electoral process, ensuring their votes are accurately counted and monitored.
