FG’s $1bn social programme will empower Nigerians — Oluremi Tinubu

The Federal Government unveiled a $1bn social protection initiative on Wednesday, aimed at shifting Nigerians from temporary aid to sustainable economic empowerment. The First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, introduced the Household Prosperity and Empowerment Social Protection Project, alongside four other programs designed to bolster the country's humanitarian response and poverty reduction framework.

The initiatives, launched under the theme 'From Palliatives to Pathways', focus on improving the wellbeing of vulnerable individuals, families, and communities across the nation. Tinubu emphasized that while the programs cater to different needs, they all share the common goal of enhancing the lives of the most disadvantaged in society.

The initiatives include the Household Prosperity and Empowerment Social Protection Project, a national platform for humanitarian responses, an Emergency Cash Transfer Programme for immediate financial support, a Ministerial Blueprint translating humanitarian priorities into action, and a Humanity First Magazine documenting success stories.

These measures aim to transition from reactive relief to proactive empowerment, with a focus on identifying vulnerable households, addressing their specific needs, and providing pathways towards economic independence.
