Dolly Parton, the renowned singer and songwriter who passed away at the age of 80 due to cancer, continued working right up until her final moments, according to her manager Dany Nozell. Parton expressed a deep appreciation for bringing her dreams to fruition and bringing joy to others, as her manager conveyed in a statement.

To ensure the continuation of her legacy, Parton collaborated with a select group to devise a plan for projects yet to be released post her death. This dedicated team is committed to fulfilling the myriad of dreams Parton had yet to realize, assuring fans that any newly released music, products, books, experiences, or campaigns under the Dolly Parton banner will bear her personal mark.

One such upcoming endeavor is the Broadway production, "Dolly: A True Original Musical," which will proceed according to its scheduled timeline. The musical is set to open on January 19, 2027, coinciding with what would have been Parton's 81st birthday. Additionally, an unreleased song titled "My Place in History" remains sealed within a chestnut box at Dollywood's DreamMore Resort in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee.

This song, penned by Parton in 2015, was accompanied by instructions to remain sealed until January 19, 2046, marking her 100th birthday. The CD containing the recording, along with a CD player, ensures that the song can be enjoyed even decades from now. In her 2020 book, Parton humorously pondered whether the technology would still function by then, expressing hope that the time capsule would still play.

Parton's wish for her funeral was a modest and intimate gathering with immediate family members. Her preference for "If We Never Meet Again," a country-gospel hymn, was passed down from her father, Lee Parton, who had also requested it for his own funeral in 2000. Parton's nephew, Bryan Seaver, revealed that her final wish was to be laid to rest in a bed of plush cotton.
