Deaths in Lahore police custody: Forensic report confirms women were addicts, says IGP

LAHORE: Punjab Inspector General of Police Abdul Kareem announced that forensic reports of two young women who died in police custody in Lahore confirm they had been using addictive drugs or prohibited substances. During a press conference with senior officers, the IGP explained that the medical board's report, conducted by senior doctors, revealed that the women died from cardiopulmonary arrest, a sudden medical emergency where the heart stops pumping blood and breathing ceases.

The report also stated that the women had consumed nine types of intoxicating substances, which contributed to their death during police interrogation. While the simultaneous death of the two women is unusual, the forensic evidence clearly indicates that they died due to drug addiction. Regarding the Hina Javed murder case, the IGP mentioned that three suspects were named in the initial FIR, and two of them were arrested.

The victim's body in Rawalpindi showed signs of torture, including a wire around her neck tied to the shower rod. The IGP assured that the Rawalpindi police conducted the investigation professionally, proving it was a murder case, not a suicide. The police investigation into Hina Javed's murder is ongoing, and they expect to bring the culprits to justice soon.

Finally, the IGP discussed the case of Abdullah Tahir, a PTI ticket-holder from Okara, who was targeted by shooters who fled to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police teams are actively working on locating and arresting the suspects.
