Dangote raises petrol gantry price twice in 5 days

Dangote Petroleum Refinery has increased the price of petrol, also known as Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), for the second time in just five days. On August 26, 2026, the gantry price for PMS was raised from N1,185 to N1,200 per litre. This decision came despite a decrease in international crude oil prices following renewed discussions between the United States and Iran. The refinery informed its customers of the new pricing through a communication titled "PMS Price Change Communication (N1,185 Per Litre to N1,200 Per Litre)."

The coastal delivery price also saw an increase, rising from N1,562,265 per metric tonne to N1,582,380, which is an additional N20,115 per metric tonne. In response to these price changes, customers are instructed to return their Authorisation to Collect documents for re-pricing, and new volume contracts will be issued to resume loading promptly.

The latest price hike follows a previous increase on August 21, when Dangote Refinery raised the gantry price from N1,165 to N1,185 per litre. This marks a total increase of N35 per litre within a week, potentially leading to further hikes in petrol prices throughout the downstream market.
