CE takes to streets to gather views for Policy Address

Chief Executive John Lee embarked on a community visit to Sham Shui Po District on Wednesday, engaging with residents to gather insights for his upcoming Policy Address. Starting at Un Chau Estate in Cheung Sha Wan, Lee visited Un Shing House to check on an 88-year-old resident, expressing satisfaction at her positive feedback on recent ambulatory care services. Ambulatory care surgery, he noted, enables patients to undergo and recover from procedures on the same day without overnight hospital stays.

Lee proceeded to an elderly center, where he learned about various activities and services offered. Residents expressed enthusiasm about the visit, with some taking selfies with the city's leader. Lee emphasized the government's commitment to public welfare, promising ongoing efforts to improve services.

Acknowledging the deep connections many elderly residents have with the neighborhood, Lee encouraged seniors to remain active and highlighted the extensive primary healthcare services available at the local district health center. During his walk, Lee joined a community sports event, attempting an exercise bike, a routine he typically eschews due to a hectic schedule.

Conversing with a secondary school student, Lee conveyed the importance of young people in Hong Kong's future, noting the student's initial nervousness turning into a friendly interaction.

Additionally, Lee visited a 24-hour contact center to learn how AI tools enhance the efficiency of public enquiries handling, accompanied by officials including Alice Mak, Lo Chung-mau, and Sun Dong.
