Apple Event Announced for September 9: 'Surprise and Shine'

Apple has announced its annual iPhone-focused event for September 9 at the Apple Park campus in Cupertino, California. During the September 2026 iPhone event, Apple will unveil three new devices: the iPhone 18 Pro, the iPhone 18 Pro Max, and a foldable iPhone, possibly referred to as the iPhone Ultra.

Notably, there will be no standard iPhone 18 released that year, as Apple plans to launch more affordable models in spring 2027.

All three new iPhones will be powered by Apple's latest A20 Pro chip, constructed on a 2nm process for enhanced speed and efficiency. The iPhone 18 Pro models may feature an upgraded variable aperture rear camera, but otherwise, they will resemble the iPhone 17 Pro models. Anticipate potential price increases due to ongoing memory shortages.

This marks the first foldable iPhone launch since the 2017 debut of the iPhone X. The foldable device will adopt a book-like design, measuring 5.5 inches when closed and 7.6 inches when unfolded. It will be wider than it is tall, akin to using an iPad when opened. Due to its slim profile, the foldable iPhone will employ Touch ID instead of Face ID and lack a telephoto camera.

Apple will also introduce the Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4, along with potential new smart home devices, such as the rumored home hub, a new Apple TV 4K, and an updated HomePod mini.

In addition to new hardware, Apple will announce launch dates for iOS 27, iPadOS 27, macOS Golden Gate, and other forthcoming software updates.
