Ambassador Quartey highlights Ghana’s sustainable cocoa sector at Cocoa Connect Seminar in Rimini

H.E. Mona Quartey, Ghana's Ambassador to Italy, spearheaded a diplomatic team to the esteemed Meeting di Rimini. This event centred on the seminar "Cacao Connect: The Italian Way to the Sustainable Cocoa Supply Chain in Africa." Quartey was joined by Mr. Kwesi Amuzu-Kpene, the Head of Chancery of the Ghanaian Embassy in Rome. Throughout the seminar, the delegation engaged in thorough conversations with prominent global figures, Italian government bodies (including MAECI and CDP), and influential industry leaders including Ferrero and ICAM.

The discussions predominantly revolved around highlighting Ghana's outstanding quality standards in the cocoa sector, forging public-private partnerships, and promoting climate-resilient and fair-trade practices across the supply chain. Additionally, Quartey provided crucial updates on the Ghana Cocoa Board Bill 2026, which is anticipated to receive Presidential approval and soon be enacted into law.

She underscored that this new legislation is a boon for the sector, not just by enhancing the welfare of local cocoa farmers, but also by establishing a highly appealing environment for investors interested in local value addition.

Quartey's active involvement in the seminar solidifies the Embassy's unwavering dedication to economic diplomacy. This commitment aims to position Ghana as a key strategic partner for sustainable development and agro-processing in Europe.
