Ambassador Quartey highlights Ghana’s sustainable cocoa sector at Cocoa Connect Seminar in Rimini

Ghana's Ambassador to Italy, H.E. Mona Quartey, led a diplomatic team to the esteemed Meeting di Rimini, where they engaged in the "Cacao Connect: The Italian Way to the Sustainable Cocoa Supply Chain in Africa" seminar. Quartey, accompanied by Mr. Kwesi Amuzu-Kpene, the Head of Chancery of the Ghanaian Embassy in Rome, held detailed conversations with significant global stakeholders, Italian governmental bodies (including MAECI and CDP), and prominent industry figures such as Ferrero and ICAM.

The discussions centered on Ghana's top-notch quality standards, cultivating public-private partnerships, and promoting sustainable, fair-trade methods in the cocoa supply chain. She also provided updates on the Ghana Cocoa Board Bill 2026, which is anticipated to receive Presidential approval and soon become legislation. Quartey highlighted that this new Bill would not only benefit the cocoa farmers but also attract investors interested in local value addition.

This active involvement demonstrates the Embassy's dedication to economic diplomacy, positioning Ghana as a key strategic ally for sustainable development and agro-processing in Europe.
