5 karaoke staff fined for dancing on Chon Buri road, TikTok video shows

Five karaoke bar employees in Chon Buri were fined for dancing and performing flips on Sukhumvit Road, as a TikTok video of their antics went viral. The woman who posted the videos, who is the owner of the karaoke bar, explained that her establishment had closed early, giving her staff free time to party. While many viewers found the videos amusing, some locals were worried about the potential danger to both the employees and drivers on the road.

In response to the backlash, the TikTok account was deleted, but the footage resurfaced on Thai news platforms and Facebook pages. Sattahip Police Chief Komsan Khamtunkeaw ordered traffic officers to locate and take action against the five women featured in the video. The officers found the women at the karaoke bar and warned them not to repeat the behavior.

Upon questioning, the women admitted they were filming content late at night, when there were fewer vehicles on the road, and believed they would not face any issues. They expressed remorse for the incident and vowed not to repeat the behavior. The women were charged with obstructing traffic without a valid reason and were fined under the Land Transport Act, though the exact amount was not disclosed.

The fine could have reached up to 500 baht. The Police emphasized the importance of adhering to traffic rules, refraining from using the road for personal activities, and ensuring the safety of all road users.
