2027: APC reopens e-registration nationwide

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced the resumption of its electronic membership registration nationwide, commencing on August 31, 2026, as the party readies itself for the 2027 general elections. According to the statement, the nationwide registration exercise will encompass all political wards in Nigeria, targeting both existing and new members.

Current party members are expected to verify their records, while new entrants will be invited to formally register with the party. Speaking in Abuja, APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, emphasized that the re-registration drive aims to establish a dependable and digitally-managed membership database prior to the 2027 elections.

Morka urged all APC stakeholders, supporters, and members to actively participate in the exercise, highlighting that the initiative will bolster the party’s organizational framework and enhance its capacity for strategic planning. The e-registration process is structured to digitize the party’s membership records, guarantee their accuracy, facilitate streamlined access to membership data for decision-making, foster internal democracy, and reinforce the party’s dedication to democratic innovations in Nigeria.

The registration threshold is set at Nigerian citizens aged 18 and above, possessing a valid National Identification Number. Participation will be open to eligible Nigerians, making the National Identification Number a critical element of the registration process. This re-opening of the e-registration exercise coincides with a crucial period as political parties commence preparations for the 2027 general election.

For the APC, which currently holds control over the Federal Government and multiple state governments, an accurate and up-to-date membership database will prove instrumental in internal party administration, voter mobilization, and the execution of future party activities. Moreover, the initiative aims to offer the party a refreshed overview of its membership numbers across Nigeria’s various wards, simultaneously addressing inaccuracies and redundancies that have plagued historically manual record-keeping systems.

The APC’s emphasis on electronic registration also highlights the increasing reliance on digital methodologies in political party governance, especially concerning the management of extensive membership networks as political campaigns intensify. The party has called upon its members and supporters to seize this opportunity to contribute to strengthening the APC’s membership roster nationwide.
