Muslim countries should unite: Iran seeks US exit

Tehran: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian emphasized the importance of strengthening unity among Muslim countries to ensure security, peace, and stability in the region during a meeting with Iraqi Supreme Judicial Council President Faiq Zidan in Tehran on Tuesday, according to Iran's state-run IRNA.

Pezeshkian argued that the region's resources have attracted the interest of external powers who seek to exploit its wealth through creating divisions, wars, and conflicts. He proposed that Muslim countries expand their cultural, commercial, social, political, and economic ties to build the foundation for enhanced regional security, IRNA reported.

Additionally, Pezeshkian advocated for an alliance of Muslim countries to strengthen regional stability and security, suggesting that such unity could pave the way for the United States to exit the region and enable regional governments to adopt a sustainable, locally driven model of stability, according to IRNA. Iraqi Supreme Judicial Council President Faiq Zidan commended Iran's role in combating terrorism in the region and stated that turning joint security, economic, social, and cultural initiatives into practical measures could yield significant benefits for regional development, IRNA reported.

Zidan also suggested that stronger political and security relations would bolster regional stability and help contain Israel, highlighting Iran's central role in this effort.
