20-year-old kills father in Anambra

A 20-year-old man, Pascal Ogbogu, has been arrested for allegedly murdering his 56-year-old father with a machete in Anambra State. The incident occurred in Abatete, Idemili North Local Government Area on August 25, 2026. Ogbogu attacked his father, who was found with a deep machete wound to the throat, and fled the scene. Police from the Eziowelle Division, assisted by family members and community vigilantes, apprehended Ogbogu the following day.

The Anambra State Police Commissioner, CP Nnanna Ama, praised the community's prompt response and cooperation in the arrest. The body was sent to the mortuary for preservation and autopsy. The investigation is ongoing, with the case being transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department.
