Who’s your pick? Vote for the Dayton Daily News Athlete of the Week

The Dayton Daily News invites readers to participate in the Athlete of the Week contest, presented by Orthopaedic Institute of Dayton. From Monday to Wednesday, voters can select their favorite athlete from the first week's nominees. The voting process will conclude by the end of the day on Wednesday, with the winner being revealed on Friday morning.

Nominees must be current high school student-athletes within the Dayton Daily News, Journal-News, and Springfield News-Sun coverage area. Any sport in season is eligible for consideration. Coaches, athletic directors, school administrators, and fans can submit nominations for varsity athletes who made a significant impact in their respective competitions during the previous week.

Nominations must include the athlete's full name, school, sport, grade level, key statistics, and accomplishments from the season, along with a portrait or action photo. Athletes can be nominated multiple times if they didn't win in the previous week. The newspaper's sports staff will curate finalists for the weekly ballot, ensuring fairness by allowing different athletes and schools to be nominated throughout the season.

Voting begins at noon each Monday and remains open through Wednesday. Attempts to manipulate the voting process will lead to disqualification. Winners will be announced online on Friday morning and may feature in a story, photo, or social media post. Athletes are eligible to win once per season, allowing for a diverse range of sports and schools to receive recognition.
