Total War: Warhammer shows off its spicy new endgames, including a 'rat counter' that tells you how many Skaven still need killing in The Vermintide

Since the unveiling of Total War: Warhammer's Lords of the End Times expansion, content surrounding the game has been abundant. On this week's livestream, Creative Assembly provided more details about the endgame crises. The stream delved into Archaon's Chaos Invasion, Nagash's Great Ritual of Nagash, and the Skaven's Vermintide.

Each crisis showcased devastated world regions and special battle maps, along with introductions to new End Times units. However, the most intriguing addition was the rat counter in The Vermintide endgame, which displays the estimated number of Skaven left to kill. Lead Game Designer Mitch Heastie confirmed that the counter is based on actual numbers, roughly estimating around 165,000 rats, representing 60 Skaven armies that must be defeated.

The Vermintide endgame is said to be enjoyable as players must destroy Skaven Under-Cities before they destroy settlements with Doomspheres, quickly recapturing territory, and as the rat men continuously spawn armies. New buildings will aid in dealing with the Skaven menace, and there seems to be a narrative component, as each defeated army helps players uncover the Skaven's sinister plot.

Compared to Nagash's endgame, which focuses on the climactic final battle, The Vermintide offers a more dynamic and engaging experience. Alongside the Lords of the End Times content, players are excited about the September 24 release of Total War: Warhammer. Additionally, purchasing one of the expansion lords grants access to Immortal Empires, making it an ideal time to start playing the game.
