Top-Ranked Women's Hoops Recruit Makes Official Visit to Washington

The Washington Huskies welcomed the top-ranked recruit for the 2027 class, Kaleena Smith, for her first of 11 scheduled official visits. The 5-foot-6 point guard from Ontario Christian, Ontario, California, made the trip to Seattle on August 24, sharing photos on her personal Instagram account. Smith, a five-star prospect, joined her family and the Huskies' sixth-year coach Tina Langley for the visit.

Smith has additional official visits planned to several other top basketball programs, including Baylor, Oklahoma, Georgia, Tennessee, Arizona State, Miami, USC, UCLA, Connecticut, and Texas A&M, over the next four months. With potential additions to the list, she will have 11 visits in total.

Her ability to score or distribute the ball impresses her teammates, according to 247Sports women's basketball director of scouting Brandon Clay. Smith's shooting range extends beyond the 25-foot mark, making her a versatile player. As a junior, she averaged 31.5 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 6.9 assists per game during her 35 games at Ontario Christian. Throughout her three varsity seasons, she maintained averages of at least 22 points and six assists per game.

Adidas signed Smith to become their first high school women’s basketball NIL partner in November 2024. Candace Parker, a two-time NCAA champion and three-time WNBA champ, praised Smith as someone who embodies the future of women's basketball. Parker highlighted her competitiveness, work ethic, and dedication to the sport, expressing pride in welcoming her to the adidas Women's Basketball sisterhood.
