The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered is a free upgrade with revamped gameplay systems — here's everything confirmed at the ONL reveal

CD Projekt Red has announced The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered, a free upgrade for all platforms set to arrive on September 29. The remastered version introduces over 40 enhancements and revamped gameplay features for the popular RPG game. Announced during Gamescom 2026's Opening Night Live, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered will be free for current owners, with the added benefit of receiving the Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine expansions without additional cost.

The trailer showcased various new elements, including upgraded visuals, enhanced combat, improved traversal, new witcher signs, FX, revamped mount handling, and expanded monster behaviors. Additional improvements include a skill tree revamp, transmogrification, an expanded photo mode, finishers, cross-platform mod support, and immersive meditation.

The remastered edition also features refined animations, a new quest tracking UI, reworked looting, refreshed motion blur, and accessibility features. Enhanced textures, foliage shading, a modernized tutorial, HDR improvements, and Global Lighting Revisions are among the visual upgrades. PlayStation 5 Pro support, Xbox Play Anywhere support, Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive features, and NVIDIA DLSS 4.5, AMD FSR 4, and Intel XESS 2.0 technologies are also included. The announcement precedes the release of The Witcher 4, slated for 2028.
